Perhaps you are familiar with the tradition of the Salzburg Advent Singing – a warm and contemplative way to welcome the most enchanting time of the year. In many other places across the Alpine region, we also love to prepare for this quiet season with an Advent concert. Songs and instrumental melodies speak directly to the heart and touch us in a way that only the language of music can.

We would like to invite you to an atmospheric Advent evening – an evening that opens your heart to the days and weeks ahead. We have prepared Advent and winter songs, shepherds’ and lullabies, as well as Christmas carols, interwoven with the sounds of harp and violin – so that you may feel a little piece of heaven on earth.

The choir members of CANTAMUS wish you a joyful listening experience!

Dorothea Frisch Egli dedicates her work to the unique power of singing. For her, music comes alive where voices meet, resonance emerges, and a shared sound space opens. The conviction that singing can lead people into deeply felt, often inexplicable worlds has shaped her artistic and educational work for many years.

Dorothea Frisch Egli received her musical training at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where she studied school music, choral conducting, and singing. Since then, her passion has been devoted to the human voice in all its facets. As a vocal coach and choir director at various music and secondary schools in the Canton of Lucerne, she has guided numerous individuals on their journey to their own vocal expression.

A central chapter of her career was the founding of the children’s and youth choir Juventus Singers in Michelsamt, which she successfully led and shaped for twenty years.

In 2021, she deepened her expertise by completing the CAS Singing Voice programme at the Bern University of the Arts. This advanced training expanded her vocal repertoire and has enriched her work in vocal coaching and choral music ever since. In addition, Dorothea Frisch Egli has been active for many years as vocal coach for the Vocal Ensemble Lucerne, supporting the group in technical and musical matters.

Since 2024, she has been leading the CANTAMUS Choir of the Lake Parishes with great commitment, combining artistic vision, pedagogical experience, and her passion for choral sound to create inspiring musical experiences.

In 2024, four musicians from South Tyrol – from Mals, Morter and Merano – came together to form the Margronda Quartet. Alongside their work as music educators, they share a passion for folk music and bring melodies from old manuscripts to life with joy and dedication.

The name “Margronda” of this folk chamber music quartet is a field name of Rhaeto-Romanic origin from Mals in the Vinschgau valley in South Tyrol and means “Great Landslide”. The Malser Haide is considered the largest alluvial cone in the Alpine region.

The musical director, Gernot Niederfriniger, is a specialist in traditional Alpine folk music. He is a music educator, choir director and multi-instrumentalist, performing in several ensembles. He is a sought-after lecturer at seminars, a juror at the Alpine Folk Music Competition, and the author of specialist articles, compositions and arrangements for folk music instruments.
