Wolhauser & Jumbo Porras
With the video concert series chamber, we aim to bring you the magic of the chamber music hall and music in its purest form.
Aurélie Wolhauser, soprano
Mateo Benjamín Jumbo Porras, lute
What would the songs of a playlist have sounded like 500 years ago? Our third concert in the chamber video series sets out to answer exactly that question.
Two artists meet for a musical rendezvous: Aurélie Wolhauser, soprano and currently a vocal student at ZHdK with additional experience as a director and dramaturge, and Mateo Jumbo Porras, a lutenist from Ecuador who studied historical lute in Basel and is now completing his Master’s in performance practice at ZHdK.
The duo qualified for chamber through a university-wide competition with a video submission – and now present a multifaceted Renaissance programme featuring both familiar and lesser-known works.
“The Golden Hall by the lake is a huge source of inspiration – ideal for Renaissance music. We really let the acoustics work their magic on us,” say Aurélie and Mateo.
The result is a soundscape that can be not only heard but felt – a perfect interplay of music, space, and moment.
